Loupe at IGeLU 2025 in Siena

Sep 23, 2025

Last week, we packed our bags and headed to Siena for IGeLU 2025. The conference took place at the University of Siena, right in the heart of Tuscany, and we had the chance to sponsor the event and spend a few days with librarians and technologists from all over the world.

Siena was the perfect setting. Narrow medieval streets, the Piazza del Campo glowing in the late afternoon sun, and conversations spilling out of conference halls into cafés and courtyards. It reminded us that libraries, like cities, are built to connect people.

Talking Loupe

At our booth, we showed what Loupe can do today: a 3D map that makes collections and spaces easy to navigate, an AI that answers questions in plain language, and a set of tools that help libraries connect better with their communities.

What stood out most was the curiosity. Librarians wanted to see how Loupe could work in their context, how it integrates with Alma and Primo, and how it might make discovery feel more natural for users. Those conversations gave us a lot to think about — and even more to build on.

Looking ahead

Events like IGeLU aren’t just about showing software. They’re about listening. We left Siena with a notebook full of feedback, ideas, and a renewed sense of what libraries need from technology.

To everyone who stopped by our booth or joined a demo: thank you. It was a pleasure meeting you.

And next year? We’ll be there too. See you in Taipei for IGeLU 2026.
